Casual, but with elegance. How to take care of suede shoes? - Coccine
Casual, but with elegance. How to take care of suede shoes?

Casual style dominates not only in a street. The combination of a freer style, sportiness and unsophisticated elegance becomes more and more popular in offices, appears at more or less official business meetings or family celebrations. Individual outfits, eluding the rigid dress-code framework, have one thing in common though. It should be remembered that no matter if we complete an outfit on a verge of nonchalance or closer to classic forms, “elegance” always applies. And elegance means taking care of details, e.g. cleaning shoes, refreshing their color, protection against negative effects of weather conditions and dirt.

Suede and nubuck have been invariably popular in casual outfit – these are materials from which clothing items are made, e.g. jackets, accessories (hats, bags, gloves) and last but not least – footwear.

New, just purchased shoes should be protected as soon as possible. Unique Cocciné NANO STRONG PROTECTION waterproofer will cover the surface of a shoe with a waterproof layer. For more effective protection, you can apply the product twice, especially focusing on seams and other areas where elements are joined – moisture is most likely to penetrate right there. In addition, waterproof layer also helps later cleaning, protecting the surface from penetration of dirt particles.

Suede shoes should be carefully wiped and cleaned after each contact with dirt and water. After cleaning, we stuff the inside of shoes with paper (e.g. old newspapers) which will draw in moisture. We leave shoes for a few hours in a dry place and absolutely do not heat them with a hair dryer or other heat source (heater, stove, fireplace). When shoes are slightly dry, we remove the paper and put in fitting shoe trees so that the footwear retains its shape after drying. It’s best to use cedar shoe trees which do not only absorb moisture and restore shape, but also give the footwear a distinctive beautiful cedar scent.

To clean suede footwear well from dirt, it is worth getting a special brush with several types of bristles: nylon, rubber and copper wires. A suede cleaning cube will be useful to wipe out coarser dirt. Cocciné NUBUCK CLEANER is a special foam for cleaning larger surfaces (shoes, jackets, bags). Often, the reason why we buy shoes or accessories is their color, which matches a particular outfit. However, the color may change due to sun exposure, humidity and temperature. Fortunately, we have an excellent renovation – Cocciné RAVVIVANT in 30 different colors, which will not only restore but also refresh and revive the color.
